Frequently Asked Questions

Still have doubts? Here's everything we think you should know.

Who can join the WOSS Data Science and Machine Learning Club?

Any White Oaks Secondary School student with an interest in data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence can join. No prior experience is required, but a willingness to learn and participate in club activities is essential.

Is there a cost to join the club?

No, the club is free for all White Oaks Secondary School students. Our goal is to make data science and machine learning accessible to everyone.

Do I need programming experience to join?

Not necessarily. While having some programming background (especially in Python) is beneficial, beginners are welcome. We’ll cover the basics in early sessions, so all members have a solid foundation.

What kind of projects will we work on?

Projects may include data analysis, building simple machine learning models, and exploring real-world applications of AI. The club is structured to offer hands-on experience in data science and machine learning.

How often does the club meet?

We meet weekly on Mondays from 3-4 PM in Room N119. Regular attendance is encouraged to stay up-to-date with projects and lessons.

What tools and resources will I need?

A laptop is recommended, we also provide desktops and chromebooks, as we’ll use tools like Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and popular machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow and scikit-learn. Resources and tutorials will be provided during club sessions.
